AI is gradually taking over the world, moving into more and more areas. But artificial intelligence still lags behind on dating apps.
Men more often choose photos of women created by AI
The research showed that 36% of women said “Yes” to a man created by AI on Tinder, compared with nearly 64% when profiles included real-life details. Men, meanwhile, viewed slightly more profiles written by people than by AI: 54% of the bios they looked at were written by humans and 46% were AI-generated.
Relationship coach and psychotherapist Alex Limanova says the gap suggests men rely more on photos and may scroll without reading a woman’s profile. She says AI’s influence on dating apps is growing — it’s being used to write bios and edit images.

However, Limanova acknowledges that the experiment showed people still have an advantage over chatbots, because people consistently provide more original responses. She added that while AI can create accurate descriptions, it can’t capture the essence of human uniqueness.
AI hasn’t conquered human originality
The Daily Mail reports that, according to a survey of 5,000 couples, one in four people who recently got engaged or married met online. Further research shows that marriages that began on dating apps are less likely to end in divorce.
In an experiment by the gaming platform Mecca Games, volunteers supplied Tinder profiles for analysis. Human-written biographies typically had more original responses.
Real users mentioned specific passions and personal details. Biographies created with the help of artificial intelligence were vaguer, using general phrases that read more like a template.
