The smell

You can easily get rid of the smell of onions and garlic by chewing on a fresh root of parsley or calamus.

When treating a cold with garlic or onion juice, do not put it in your nose or stuff pieces of these vegetables into your nostrils, as this can burn the mucous membranes. Instead, use garlic or onion juice like this: take 2 tablespoons of grated garlic or onion and place them in a clean glass, then set the glass in a bowl of hot water. Cover the glass with a cone made of thick paper. Place the sharp tip of the cone to your nose and inhale the vapors for 10 minutes through each nostril. Repeat this procedure 3 to 4 times a day.

Onion juice is used to treat coughs. Finely chop several onions, place them in a glass or enamel container, and generously sprinkle with sugar. Let it steep. Drink the resulting juice by the tablespoon 4 to 5 times a day. For a more complex recipe, dissolve 400 grams of sugar in a liter of water, add 50 grams of honey and 500 grams of chopped onion, mix everything, and simmer on low heat for 1.5 hours, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon. Once cooled, transfer the liquid to a glass container with a tight seal. Take a tablespoon 4 to 6 times a day.

To promote hair growth, garlic can be applied once a week, two hours before washing your hair. For those with dry hair, it’s better to rub in a paste or juice made from garlic, strained through cheesecloth and mixed half-and-half with any vegetable oil; those with oily hair should skip the oil. After applying the paste or juice to the scalp, do not cover it with a scarf to avoid irritation. The treatment course lasts 2 to 3 months.
