Dishes with Onion and Garlic

Dutch-Style Onions

Chop the onions into small pieces and sauté them until they are partially cooked. Grease a baking dish with fat, layer in pieces of white bread that have been soaked in milk, and then add a layer of the prepared onions on top. Beat an egg with a cup of milk or cream, season with salt and pepper, mix in pieces of ham, and pour this mixture over the layer of onions. Sprinkle with grated cheese and bake in the oven for 20 minutes.

For 2 servings: 5-7 oz of white bread, 1 lb of onions, 1 egg, 2 cups of milk, 2 tablespoons of chopped ham, 1 tablespoon of grated cheese, fat, salt, and pepper to taste.

Onion Soup with Croutons

Prepare a meat broth with spices and strain it. Chop the onions and lightly sauté them in vegetable oil. Once the onions are soft, sprinkle with flour and sauté over higher heat until golden brown. Then, add a few ladles of broth and simmer for 10 minutes with the lid on. Add the sautéed onions to the broth, season with salt, and cook for another 10 minutes. Toast pieces of stale white bread in butter. Before removing from the pan, sprinkle with grated cheese. Serve the croutons separately or place them in each bowl.

For 14-17 oz of meat: 10.5 oz of onions, 2 tablespoons of oil, 0.5 tablespoon of flour, 1 tablespoon of grated cheese, half a root of carrot, parsley, and celery.

Beet Salad with Garlic

Grate two medium-sized boiled beets, mix them with 7 oz of mayonnaise and 2-3 cloves of crushed garlic.

Radish Salad with Garlic

Wash and peel a small radish, a medium carrot, and an apple. Grate them finely, mix everything together, and add 3-4 cloves of crushed garlic and a bit of lemon zest. Dress with lemon juice, mix again, and lightly salt.
