Calmness, a good night’s sleep, and relaxation are the best beauty treatments. That’s why, a week before the celebration (if not every day!), it’s essential to go to bed on time to feel fresh and energized. And about three to four days prior, it’s a good idea to visit a beauty salon. The effects of a massage and facial mask become noticeable a day or two after the treatments. During this time, it’s best to avoid squeezing pimples and blackheads, as the marks can linger for several days.
In the days leading up to the celebration, you can also pamper yourself with some at-home beauty routines.
Let’s start with some hot treatments—like steam baths or compresses—that effectively cleanse the skin (removing excess oil, hydrating, sloughing off dead skin cells, and unclogging pores). The warmth stimulates blood circulation, tones, and refreshes the face. Such treatments are beneficial for all skin types, except for very sensitive skin. For oily and normal skin, steam baths should last 10-12 minutes, while for dry skin, 5-6 minutes is sufficient.
For compresses, use a terry towel soaked in hot water. Wring it out well and place it on your face, leaving your nose and mouth uncovered. Repeat the procedure three to four times every 2-3 minutes. After that, gently massage a lather of soap into your face for two minutes, rinsing first with warm water and then with cold. For oily and porous skin, use calendula, mallow, or rose petals. For dry skin, opt for dill or chamomile, and for delicate, easily irritated skin, use parsley. A mixture of linden flowers and chamomile can be used for any skin type.
After the hot treatment, it’s a great time to apply some beauty masks.
For oily skin: Whip an egg white with half a teaspoon of alum, or mix the whipped egg white with 15 drops of lemon juice, or combine three tablespoons of buttermilk with two crushed aspirin tablets or 10 drops of lemon juice. Apply the mask to your face and rinse off with warm water after 20 minutes.
For dry skin with pigmentation spots: Mix half a teaspoon of grated toilet soap with hot water until it reaches a sour cream-like consistency. Once the mixture cools, add a tablespoon of camphor oil and 10-15 drops of hydrogen peroxide (avoid applying to eyebrows!). Rinse off the mask with warm water after 30-40 minutes.
For pale skin: A compress made from camphor oil is beneficial. Apply it to your face, and after 20 minutes, gently rub it off with a cotton pad. After the mask, be sure to apply a rich cream to your face and massage your skin with your fingertips for 5-6 minutes. Wipe off any excess cream with a tissue.
You can also make a cold compress to refresh your skin. Place ice in a glass of water, soak a piece of cotton, and wipe your forehead, cheeks, and eyelids. Use a piece of ice on the cotton to cool the skin further. Keep the cold compress on for 10 minutes.
After all these treatments, your face will look revitalized. You’ll see for yourself that you look several years younger. Now, with just a few hours left before the celebration, let’s focus on some decorative cosmetics. We recommend keeping it reasonable. The main advice: don’t try anything too extravagant; just enhance your everyday look a bit more. You know what makeup suits you best.
A smile, a sparkle in your eyes, and a cheerful mood will do wonders. Trust me, you’ll be the most beautiful and charming version of yourself.
