Tree – Garden

In 1938, they were brought from Altai as ordinary saplings. Just two decades later, not a single visitor to the All-Union Agricultural Exhibition could pass by without stopping to admire them. And there was plenty to see: an entire apple orchard on a single tree! One branch was laden with “Belfler-Kitayka” apples, another bent under the weight of “Almaty Aport” fruits, while a third showcased “Komsomolets” apples, and there were also “Antonovka 600-gram,” “Oleg,” and “Yakhontovoe.” It’s hard to list all the varieties because there are 84 in total!

In 1950, the apple trees that had thrived in Moscow’s climate were grafted, transforming them into a remarkable creation of human ingenuity—tree-gardens.
