These little candy balls are absolutely delicious. I suggest making them for your moms.
For the balls, you’ll need 200g of butter (about 14 tablespoons), 1.5 cups of flour, 5 egg yolks, 6 tablespoons of sour cream (a thicker, tangier version of sour cream common in Eastern European cuisine), and 0.5 teaspoon of baking soda.
Grate the butter, mix it with the flour, then add the egg yolks, sour cream, and baking soda. Next, form small balls, place them on a baking sheet, and bake in the oven.
While the balls are baking, let’s prepare a sweet sauce: combine 8 tablespoons of milk, 100g of butter (about 7 tablespoons), 2 teaspoons of cocoa powder, and 2 cups of sugar. Heat this mixture over low heat, stirring until it becomes smooth and uniform. Remove from heat. Now, grate 2 packages of wafers.
Once the balls have cooled, take them one by one, generously coat them with the liquid mixture, and then roll them in the crushed wafers.
