These Chinese girls didn’t just grow a sunflower; they grew a marvel. Standing over 10 feet tall, its stem resembles a tree trunk, and instead of the usual two or three flower heads, it boasted an astonishing 75, each one as large as a flour sifter.
When the sisters harvested their sunflower and threshed all the heads, they collected a whopping 55 pounds of seeds.
The following year, Min Lian and Si Mao grew around 100 of these giant sunflowers. To save space in their garden, they planted them between the vegetable beds and along the fence.
