Preventing Glass from Freezing. Late in the fall, before you insulate your windows, it’s a good idea to clean the glass. Add a few drops of glycerin to the water for washing. Then, wipe the inside of the glass with a salt solution (2 tablespoons of salt in 0.5 liters of water).

New Glassware Care. To ensure your new glasses last longer and don’t crack from sudden temperature changes, “temper” them first. Start by placing a layer of sand at the bottom of a large pot, arrange the glasses inside, fill with cold water, add a few tablespoons of salt, and bring to a boil for 15 minutes. Once the water cools, rinse the glasses thoroughly.

Cleaning Tips. For stains on wallpaper, create a paste using tooth powder and gasoline. Once the mixture dries, wipe the area with a soft cloth.

During cleaning, use a mop wrapped in a soft cloth to wipe the wallpaper, moving from top to bottom.
