“Beans are not just a crop; they are also a memory of our childhood, our parents, and the joy we felt growing our first beans. I want our children to be able to plant their own beans and never forget them or us along with them.” It turns out that garden crops, beyond their obvious benefits, also have an educational value. For some reason, the vegetable beans stand out the most from my “garden childhood.” This humble-looking plant is generous—it offers its bounty right off the bush: you pick the pod, open it up, and there they are, the seeds, juicy and delicious.
