Uggs – Australian Felt Boots

brown and white fur boots

Uggs—those incredibly warm and comfortable boots—first hit the fashion scene in the early 1980s and quickly became a staple in America, Europe, and Asia. With an array of colors and styles, Uggs have been embraced by everyone. These delightful boots are crafted using cutting-edge technology and the most natural materials available. In fact, Uggs might just be the only footwear in the world that you can wear in both polar regions and tropical climates.

The original Uggs, made from sheepskin, emerged in Australia and New Zealand, where they were primarily worn by pilots and farmers. In China, they became popular among those working in damp climates. Their popularity surged during World War I and World War II, as military pilots needed to keep their feet warm in unpressurized planes at high altitudes. By the early 1960s, Uggs reached peak popularity, especially among California surfers and swimmers who slipped them on after long sessions in the water.

As mentioned, Uggs are made from high-quality sheepskin with a special tanning process, featuring soft and fluffy fur on the inside and a durable, lightweight rubber sole. They come in a variety of models and colors, adorned with metallic embellishments, stones, rhinestones, bows, and available with or without fur, prints, and hand-painted designs. You can wear Uggs with pants, jeans, dresses, or skirts. Interestingly, Uggs have a flattering effect on the calves, making them suitable for both slender women and shorter curvy figures. It’s recommended to wear Uggs without socks—just imagine how nice it would be to spend an entire day in cozy slippers!

In the capital today, prices for Uggs range from 450 UAH to infinity. The price depends on the level of embellishment and the height of the boots. However, don’t expect to find genuine quality Uggs for 450 UAH; that’s likely to be a knockoff. You can also order Uggs online, as there are plenty of websites offering them these days. If you want to buy authentic Uggs, look for stores that sell them for no less than 2000 UAH. Trust me, the quality of those boots will not disappoint you.

Currently, there is no official UGG® Australia representation in Ukraine, which raises questions about the authenticity of the footwear sold here. Here are a few tips to help you when purchasing Uggs:

– Knockoffs are often taller than genuine Uggs, although it can be hard to tell just by looking. It’s best to compare the height with the specifications on official resources.
– Counterfeits are usually wider at the ankle, causing them to feel loose on the foot.
– Knockoffs tend to be true to size, while authentic Uggs are made one size smaller.
– The sole thickness of a counterfeit is typically 6-7 cm, while the original is 13 cm, and it’s more flexible and softer.
– Counterfeits often emit a smell of synthetic paint or lacquer.
– The fur in genuine Uggs is thick and plush, while in knockoffs, it quickly flattens. Additionally, the fur in authentic Uggs matches the color of the boots, and the sheepskin on the insole always has a natural cream shade.
– Genuine Uggs have a ® symbol on the sole, which is absent in counterfeits.
– Authentic Uggs have been produced in China for several years, following the decision by the American corporation Deckers Outdoor Corporation, which acquired the UGG® Australia brand about 15 years ago. So if you see a label claiming the Uggs are from New Zealand or Australia, you can be sure they are fakes (this specifically applies to UGG® Australia boots). It’s worth noting that in Australia, the term “ugg” is not trademarked, and all sheepskin boots are still referred to as Uggs. For example, boots labeled “UGG Made in Australia” indicate they are made from genuine sheepskin, but they belong to a different brand and manufacturer. Essentially, such Uggs can be considered branded, as they are well-made, and the choice will ultimately depend on your preferences.
