The Sparrow Has the Longest Neck in the World

The giraffe boasts the longest neck, measuring up to 10 feet. To supply blood to such a high head, it requires a powerful heart. That’s why the walls of a giraffe’s heart are significantly thickened, reaching up to 3 inches. A weaker pump simply can’t push blood that high.

Yet, a little bird like the sparrow holds its own against the giraffe. The sparrow has twice as many neck vertebrae as the tallest animal on Earth!
