The value of black chokeberry (also known as aronia) lies in its high concentration of physiologically active substances. Clinical observations have confirmed the effectiveness of aronia juice in treating the first two stages of hypertension. The organic iodine compounds found in abundance help eliminate excess cholesterol from the body. Additionally, it contains substances that positively affect the central nervous system, although their chemical nature remains undisclosed.
The Pharmacological Committee of the Ministry of Health recommends the fruits and natural juice of black chokeberry as a remedy for hypertension and atherosclerosis. Aronia juice lowers cholesterol levels in patients with atherosclerosis and accelerates blood circulation.
The fruits and juice of aronia also help reduce emotional instability. However, black chokeberry has a low content of ascorbic acid (10-60 mg). Therefore, for treating hypertension and atherosclerosis, it is recommended to consume it alongside rose hips or black currants, which are rich in vitamin C, or with ascorbic acid.
It’s worth noting that the catechins present in aronia berries neutralize and eliminate radioactive strontium from the body.
You can make jam from the berries. To do this, take 1 kilogram of washed and dried berries and mash them with 700 grams of sugar. The recommended dosage is 75-100 grams twice a day along with ascorbic acid. For hypertension, drink 50-100 grams of juice three times a day after meals. The treatment course lasts six weeks and should be repeated twice a year (in spring and autumn).
