Milk Tanks on Wheels

Humans have transformed the wild aurochs into what can only be described as “milk tanks on hooves”—and that’s exactly what you get with Yaroslavl and Kostroma breed cows. Some of these animals consume up to 220 pounds of feed a day and produce 15 gallons or more of milk.

Take, for instance, a relatively small Yaroslavl cow named “Vena,” who once produced an astonishing 82 liters of milk in a single day—that’s over 6 buckets! Then there’s the Simmental cow “Zozulya,” who yielded 59 kilograms of milk in one milking session, totaling up to 28,200 pounds in a year. Meanwhile, a Kostroma cow named “Kamsa” managed to produce up to 29,900 pounds annually—equivalent to an entire tank!
