When your fur clothing gets wet, gently shake it out and hang it on a hanger away from the stove or radiator. Once the item dries, give it a good shake. Do not brush or comb the clumped fur fibers.

Periodically beat the fur coat to remove dust. If it’s particularly dusty, lay it fur-side down on a sheet and beat it gently. Avoid hanging it against freshly whitewashed walls. In the closet, the coat should hang freely to prevent the fur from getting crushed. For summer storage, wrap it in a sheet or pack it in a paper bag and hang it in the closet.

Fur should be aired out on sunny days. While turning and lightly shaking it, gently beat it with a flexible stick.

It’s not recommended to sprinkle mothballs on fur items, as they can dry out the fibers.

I make large bags from old skirts. To do this, I cut out two pieces of fabric to the desired size, sew the bottom and sides, and create a wide hem at the top where I insert two wooden slats. I leave the side seams of the bag partially unsewn to make it easier to store items.
