As Sasha and I were leaving preschool, she asked:
– Are we going to Ira’s?
I replied:
– No, we’re not going today.
Sasha started crying:
– Well, let’s at least stop by Ira’s for a little while! It’s so nice there! There are so many of them!
I responded:
– Aren’t there a lot of us?
Sasha looked at me in surprise and said:
– Mommy! Don’t you understand? It’s just ME, YOU, and DAD – that’s so FEW!!!

Sasha and I are in the car. We stop at a red light. Sasha says:
– I know why we’re stopped!
We asked her:
– Why?
She replied:
– Because – it’s a red light!
We corrected her:
– It’s either “because” in Russian, or “того що” in Ukrainian. “A to” doesn’t exist!
The light turned green. Sasha said:
– And I know why we’re going!
We asked:
– Why?
Sasha, with a scared look on her face, very seriously said:
– PO-TAMU – it’s a green light!

We asked Sasha which boy she likes at preschool. She said:
– Senka.
Ivan cautiously asked her:
– Well, that’s who likes you. But who do you like?
She replied:
– Dad, don’t you understand? I love Senka, and he loves me! We’re LOVERS!!!

Sasha is sitting in the bath. I asked her to scoot over so I could add some hot water. She didn’t hear me, turned around with wide eyes full of fear, and said:

Sasha is goofing around with Ivan and says to me:
– Mom, look! If I rip off Dad’s ears, he’ll be EARLESS!
