Food – Friend or Foe?

Engaging in any sport will never lead to success if it’s not paired with sensible nutrition. The one conclusion I’ve reached after many years of exploration (or perhaps my body reached it, and I just listened?) is that we need to have a very relaxed attitude toward food. There was a time when I was so eager to lose weight that I became afraid of food; I even feared the word itself. Every crumb I ate in my mind transformed into another unwanted pound, and I thought about it so much that I nearly lost my mind.

This mindset is fundamentally flawed. You shouldn’t think about food at all! Instead, you should train yourself to consistently make smarter choices in favor of healthier foods, no matter where you are. The key phrase is always and everywhere. Because we always have choices: whether it’s what to buy or what to select from what’s already offered. I follow this rule: “It’s better to go hungry than to eat just anything, and it’s better to be alone than to be with the wrong company.”

It’s easy for me to write this now, but I once endured terrible struggles over it. I completely understand those who want to lose weight. What saddens me is when they try to achieve this through unreasonable methods.
