AI has reconstructed the face of Christ based on the imprint from the Shroud of Turin.

Artificial intelligence has recreated a portrait of Christ based on a precious relic believed to bear the imprint of his face. The Shroud of Turin is a burial cloth that is said to have wrapped the crucified Messiah.

In the image generated by artificial intelligence, Jesus appears as a fair-skinned man with large blue eyes, a neat beard, and wounds on his face and body that testify to his suffering. This depiction of Christ differs somewhat from the traditional images often seen in icons.

The Relic That Preserved the Face of Jesus

Recently, a team from the Institute of Crystallography in Bari and the University of Padua (Italy) confirmed the Shroud of Turin’s age of over 2,000 years using X-ray analysis. This timeframe aligns with the period of Christ’s death, as previously reported by HouseWife. The linen cloth, measuring 4.41 by 1.13 meters and housed in the Cathedral of Turin, displays a brown imprint of the face and body of the Son of God. The marks on the body correspond to the wounds Jesus sustained during the crucifixion, as mentioned in the Bible.

Tim Anderson, a researcher at the Georgia Institute of Technology (USA), noted that there is no explanation for how this image appeared on the fabric.

When the Shroud of Turin was first displayed in the 1350s, it was presented as the authentic burial cloth that had wrapped Christ’s mutilated body after his crucifixion. In the 1980s, researchers debunked the idea of the Shroud’s authenticity, dating it to the Middle Ages, as reported by the Daily Mail. Only now have researchers restored its credibility and confirmed the true age of the relic.
