ACROMNIA Studio specializes in design, architecture, and creative visions for both the real and digital worlds. In their latest project, the ACROMNIA Orbital Hotel, the designers have brought to life one version of what living spaces beyond Earth might look like. This somewhat unconventional concept does not aim for immediate realization; rather, it seeks new forms that are entirely different from what Earthlings are accustomed to.
Such explorations are primarily linked to the rapidly evolving field of space tourism. The concept could pique the interest of private space companies and the hospitality industry of tomorrow. “We believe that the Earth experience should not be replicated in space, and we are searching for new forms of design and human interaction with that design,” explained the ACROMNIA team.
How Designers Envision Life in an Extraterrestrial Hotel
In the ACROMNIA Orbital Hotel, guests enter an untouched space devoid of furniture, doors, or any other elements typically associated with a home. Instead, the interiors are covered with a responsive material that has intelligent shape-shifting capabilities. The walls can envelop hotel residents while they sleep, creating a sort of cocoon. At the same time, the material easily transforms into partitions and various structures for relaxation and work. In other words, all interior elements, including furniture, emerge according to the needs of the resident.

Navigation devices and buttons are located on the inner shell, which resembles a bas-relief, as reported by Designboom. The “room” features micropores that facilitate the flow of sounds, scents, light, and air.
Autonomous living blocks connected together
The ACROMNIA Orbital Hotel serves as a platform for new friendly and professional connections. According to the designers, it consists of autonomous blocks that can function independently or together form an entire network. Each block has a hexagonal structure, which helps each individual block integrate into a larger system when needed.
The project encourages scientific research and offers a glimpse into the future of humanity as it ventures into space.
