Renowned American doctor and blogger Joe Whittington claims that one simple habit during can subtly change the shape of your face. You might not even realize why this is happening to you.
An experienced emergency room physician, Whittington reached out to his two million followers and others who curl up on their sides every night. Besides this sleeping position, a rough pillowcase could also be a silent culprit behind facial deformation, as reported by Daily Mail.
Consequences – Facial Asymmetry and Premature Wrinkles
According to the expert, the consequences of improper sleeping, such as facial asymmetry and premature wrinkles, are not easily corrected even with beauty injections.
Dr. Whittington emphasized in his message that years of pressure and friction on one side of the face will lead to visible problems. “The worst part is that can be vertical, and they usually can’t be fixed with Botox,” he noted.

How to Prevent This?
Fortunately, the doctor says there are simple ways to reduce the damage, and none of them will force you to give up comfort.
The first involves what experts call the “gold standard” for facial aging: sleeping exclusively on your back.
Not everyone finds this position comfortable. However, it’s worth trying to get used to it. The effect will be striking: the pressure on your face will disappear completely, and will decrease as the fluid gradually drains away.
The second recommendation is to switch to silk pillowcases – they are smoother, softer, and more pleasant to the touch. Silk reduces skin friction and helps prevent creases.
There’s also a third way to avoid the negative effects of side sleeping. Simply alternate your positions, choosing a different one each night.
“When it comes to wrinkles that resist Botox, sagging skin, and facial asymmetry, it becomes clear that your sleeping position is quite significant,” concluded Joe Whittington.
