Cider-Braised Beef Stew

Cider-Braised Beef Stew

  • Beef: 600 g (about 1.3 lb)
  • Cider: 300 ml (about 1 1/4 cups)
  • Celery: 1 stalk
  • Carrot: 1
  • Onion: 1
  • Cinnamon: 1 stick
  • Tomatoes: 3
  • Salt and spices to taste

Cut the beef into cubes and place it in a sauté pan or a heavy-bottomed pot. Sear the meat in oil until browned and the juices have reduced. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery stalk to the meat. Sauté the mixture for 10 minutes.

Dice the tomatoes and add them to the pot, then simmer the mixture for another 10 minutes. Pour in the cider and bake the stew in the oven at 200 °C (about 400 °F) for 2 hours.
