Creating Seedling Cups for Your Garden
I’m building 35×52 cm boxes that hold 54 seedling cups each. I make the cups from 13×26 cm sheets of plastic film, wrapping each sheet around a mold about 1.5 times. I use a bottle with a 5.5 cm diameter as the mold and fold the excess film at the bottom. I fill the cups with soil, leaving about 1 cm from the top, then place them in the box. Before transplanting the seedlings into the ground, I water them. Then I hold the cup in my left hand, remove the strip with my right hand, and plant the “chair”—the soil clump with the seedling—into the prepared hole.
Right now, the gardener is busy making the cups and preparing nutrient-rich soil. And, of course, they are gathering seeds.
