- Soak 1 pound of beans for 2 hours.
- Cook the beans until they are partially tender.

- Sauté the onion until golden brown, then add a tablespoon of flour to the pan.
- Stir in a cup of broth.
- Combine the pan mixture with the beans and transfer them to a clay pot, adding salt, a bay leaf, and pepper.
- Place the clay pot in the oven and bake for 1 hour.
