Transfer the ham-and-onion mixture to a greased baking dish. Whisk one egg with 0.85 cups of milk and pour the egg-and-milk mixture over the ham mixture. Sprinkle the pudding with grated cheese, drizzle the pudding with melted butter, and bake it in the oven. Before serving, place the pudding on a plate and ladle the broth over it.
