Homemade ketchup: a recipe with plums

This homemade ketchup won’t taste like store-bought versions, as it contains only natural ingredients without any artificial flavor enhancers. The sauce made with plums has a rich flavor on its own, so it doesn’t need any extra help. By making ketchup with plums and tomatoes at home, you’ll reap the maximum benefits from the healthy properties of its core ingredients.
Ingredients: ripe tomatoes – 2 kg; ripe plums – 1 kg; onion – 250 g; garlic – 100 g; parsley – ¼ bunch; hot red peppers – 2 pcs.; sugar – 200 g; bay leaves – 2 pcs.; pepper mix – ½ tsp; 9% vinegar – 2 tbsp; salt – 3 tsp.
Preparation
Remove the pits from the , peel the tomatoes, and cut the into quarters. Pass the ingredients through a meat grinder. Pour the puree into a pot and cook for 2 hours over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
Finely chop the seeded peppers, , and in the meat grinder. Add this garlic mixture to the tomato-plum puree along with the pepper mix, bay leaves, vinegar, sugar, and salt. Stir and cook for about 45 minutes until thickened. At the end, remove the bay leaves from the finished sauce. This sweet and sour homemade plum ketchup can be canned for winter or used immediately, served with meat, poultry, fish, pasta, French fries, , or sandwiches.
