How to Clean and Polish Wooden Furniture

Wipe the furniture thoroughly with a dry cloth. Take a small amount of the ready-made “Polish” mixture — a light-brown liquid — and, using a clean piece of flannel, rub it onto the wooden parts of the furniture. Let the polish sit for 30 to 40 minutes, then buff the furniture with a dry flannel cloth until it shines.

In an enameled pot, melt 100 grams (about 3.5 ounces) of finely chopped yellow wax over low heat along with 12 grams (about 0.4 ounces) of mastic or 25 grams (about 0.9 ounces) of rosin powder. Once the mixture has melted, remove the pot from the heat and immediately stir in 50 grams (about 1.8 ounces) of warm turpentine. Store the liquid in iron or glass jars.

Dampen a soft wool cloth with this liquid and polish the wooden surfaces.
