Lazy Charlotte

Quickly rub the flour with the fat, then knead the dough, adding an egg, sugar, baking soda, and, if desired, a tablespoon of berry liqueur (optional). Divide the dough into two nearly equal parts. The goal is to wrap one part in paper and place it in the freezer.

Spread the larger portion evenly on the bottom of a greased round cake pan, slightly raising the edges of the dough. Place the pan in a preheated oven for about 20 minutes. Once the dough is lightly browned, remove it from the oven and cover it with a layer of apples, grated on a coarse grater along with the skin. Then, grate the frozen dough from the freezer over the layer of apples. Return the pan with the Charlotte to the hot oven.

If desired, you can add some aromatic flavoring to the apples, such as cinnamon, lemon zest, vanilla, or fruit essence.

When the Charlotte is baked, dust it with powdered sugar.

For this recipe, you will need: 500g of flour (about 4 cups), 250g of margarine or butter (about 1 cup), 1 egg, 1 cup of sugar, 3 tablespoons of baking soda, 4-5 large apples, and powdered sugar for dusting.
