Like two Colosseums: the turtle-yacht will become the largest traveling city in the world.

In Italy, a giant yacht designed in the shape of a turtle has been unveiled. This floating city can accommodate up to 60,000 guests at once.

The Pangeos concept was developed by the Lazzarini design studio, led by yacht engineer and designer Pierpaolo Lazzarini. The designers take pride in the fact that their new creation will be twice the size of the Roman Colosseum. They shared a stunning animated visualization of the idea on social media.

Pangeos measures 550 meters in length and 610 meters from wingtip to wingtip. According to the ambitious vision of the design team, tens of thousands of sea tourists will find everything they need for a comfortable vacation aboard this monumental turtle.

Onboard, there will be hotels, shopping centers, parks, helicopter pads, and even a runway for airplanes, as reported by Designboom.

The yacht’s name is derived from the supercontinent Pangaea, which existed 335 to 175 million years ago during the late Paleozoic and early Mesozoic eras.

What Will the Futuristic Mega-Yacht Surprise Us With?

The hull of Pangeos has a draft of 30 meters and consists of nine different bow sections. It is divided into several blocks.

From the port area, visitors can access the main square, which extends to luxury buildings with rooftop terraces where aircraft can land.

Pangeos is equipped with nine high-temperature superconducting electric motors powered by various onboard energy sources. Each motor has a power output of 16,800 horsepower. The turtle yacht is propelled by a jet propulsion system and reaches a cruising speed of 5 knots.

As the traveling city floats, its wings will harness energy from the crashing waves. Additionally, solar panels on the roof will provide part of the necessary energy to power the vessel. The fact that Pangeos will not pollute the seas or the planet’s atmosphere with harmful emissions is a particular source of pride for the designers.

The construction is estimated to cost around $8 billion. A significant portion of the expenses will go towards building a massive shipyard/dam infrastructure measuring 600 by 650 meters with direct access to the sea. To raise the necessary funds, the design studio has launched an online crowdfunding initiative.

Building the turtle city is expected to take about eight years. Once the project is realized, Pangeos will become the largest floating structure ever built in the world.
