Ingredients:
- Ground meat: 500-700g (about 1.1-1.5 lbs)
- Salt and spices to taste
- Filling: fresh zucchini or courgettes (you can also use mushrooms)
- Hard cheese: 100g (about 3.5 oz)
- Onion: 0.5 piece
In my version, the filling consists of zucchini (cut into small cubes and salted). Sauté them in oil in a skillet with the onion until golden brown. Season the ground meat with salt and spices, then shape it into small meatballs and coat them in breadcrumbs. Place them on a baking sheet, and using a small glass, make a hole in each meatball. Add a teaspoon of the filling into each hole. Bake for 30 minutes at 200°C (about 400°F). Five minutes before they’re done, sprinkle cheese on each nest and bake a little longer until the cheese is melted and golden.
