Oatmeal Balls

These are a big hit with kids and husbands alike.

Combine fat, sugar, milk, and cocoa in a pot and bring to a boil, stirring constantly until you achieve a smooth mixture. Remove from heat and stir in the oats. Once the mixture cools slightly, add nuts, and if you like, almonds, figs, or other dried fruits.

Using your hands, moistened with cold water, shape the mixture into balls about the size of a walnut. Place the balls on a plate and refrigerate until they firm up. Each ball should weigh around 20 grams (about 0.7 ounces).

For this recipe, you’ll need: 250 grams (about 0.55 lbs) of margarine or butter, 1 cup of sugar, 8-10 tablespoons of milk, 4 tablespoons of cocoa powder, 2 tablespoons of berry syrup, 500 grams (about 1.1 lbs) of oatmeal (Hercules oats), and a handful of chopped nuts, almonds, figs, etc.
