We took a chance and played a round of “Monopolist” (the Kyiv version of Monopoly) with our four-year-old. To our surprise, she outsmarted us! She bought up all the most prestigious neighborhoods in Kyiv and then drained us dry! To make matters worse, she kept landing on “Chance” cards that gave her inheritances, like an island for an outrageous sum of money, or cards that said, “You’re lucky! Someone decided to pay you for this and that.” We were completely blown away. It was so engaging that we barely managed to stop when it was time for bed. Otherwise, we probably would have played as a family until morning. It’s a really valuable game that teaches kids about money and how to manage it.
