One-Pan Skillet Spaghetti with Fresh Tomato-Basil Sauce

Ingredients:

  • Spaghetti – 250g (about 9 oz)
  • Tomatoes – 250g (about 9 oz, canned in their own juice is fine)
  • Onion – 1, sliced into half-rings
  • Garlic – 2-3 cloves, thinly sliced
  • Basil – 1 bunch
  • Olive oil – 2 tablespoons
  • Salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to taste
  • Grated cheese for serving

Instructions:

  1. Dice the tomatoes, slice the onion into half-rings, and thinly slice the garlic.
  2. In a large skillet, combine the spaghetti (break it in half if necessary), tomatoes, onion, garlic, and basil. Pour in 550 ml (about 2.3 cups) of cold water, add the olive oil and spices, and place the skillet over medium heat. Once the water comes to a boil, cook the pasta for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. At the end of cooking, stir the pasta well and season it with salt and pepper.
  4. When serving, sprinkle the pasta with grated cheese.
