It turns out that the most babies are born in September and July, while November, December, and January see the fewest birthdays celebrated around the globe.
An international team of scientists has published an online heat map that reveals the most popular months and days of the year for birthdays.
A heat map is a graphical tool that visually represents data, where individual values are displayed using color.
The most common birthdays worldwide are September 12, 18, 25, and 26—dates that fall nine months after the winter holidays. It’s clear that the colder months encourage people to spend more time indoors and expand their families.
Researchers have noted that very few people are born on major holidays, and there’s also a noticeable drop in births on the 13th of each month. Scientists are still trying to fully explain these patterns, as reported by the Daily Mail.
The Best Month and Time for Conception
Researchers have also identified the optimal time for couples trying to conceive. They should particularly focus on intimacy in the spring around 7:30 AM.
To reach this conclusion, the team conducted a large-scale study at the University Hospital Zurich in Switzerland. The scientists pointed out that sperm have their own 24-hour internal clock, which is most active in the morning.
The researchers analyzed sperm samples from 7,068 men aged 25 to 40 who were undergoing treatment for infertility. The samples were cross-checked for sperm concentration, total count, progressive motility, and normal morphology. It turned out that sperm is most viable for fertilizing an egg in March, April, and May, as these months show the highest sperm counts. A significant decrease in concentration is observed during the summer, noted Bridget Liners, the lead author of the study.
