5 large plums, halved
1 and 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp baking powder
a pinch of salt
100g unsalted butter, at room temperature
2/3 cup sugar
1 packet vanilla sugar
1/4 cup dark cocoa powder
1 egg
1/2 cup milk
Topping:
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
Sift together the flour and cocoa powder.
Add the baking powder and salt.
In a mixing bowl, beat the butter with the sugar and vanilla sugar.
Mix on high speed for about three minutes.
Add the egg and mix until well combined.
To the butter mixture, add half of the flour and half of the milk, and mix.
Then add the remaining flour and milk, mixing just until everything is combined.
Transfer the batter to a 20 cm (about 8-inch) round cake pan lined with parchment paper.
Smooth the top and arrange the plum halves on top.
Mix the sugar with the cinnamon and sprinkle it over the cake.
Bake the cake for about 50 minutes.
Happy baking!
