Sleep and travel! Designers have unveiled a triangular driverless hotel car.

The triangular vehicle with artificial intelligence will swiftly transport passengers to their destinations while they sleep.

A hotel-on-wheels for twilight travels

Peter Stulz, founder of the Xoio design studio, and his team have developed a concept for an autonomous vehicle designed for nighttime journeys, called the Swift Pod. With no steering wheel or driver, this car functions more like a mobile hotel—allowing passengers to rest during the trip.

According to the studio, users will be able to order the vehicle through a special app—just like a regular taxi—by entering the date, time, and pickup/drop-off locations. The vehicle will then calculate the best route and speed to ensure timely arrival. Passengers can also schedule stops in advance to break up long journeys.

An autonomous vehicle is a type of transport that is fully automated and operates without a driver, using optical sensors, radar, and computer algorithms.

The Swift Pod features three large wheels, upward-opening doors, and a spacious interior—thanks in part to its triangular shape. According to Peter Stulz, this design is ideal for the multimodal transportation of the future.

What’s inside?

The Swift Pod cabin can accommodate two travelers at once. They can sit at small fold-out tables or lie down on twin beds. During the entire journey, the vehicle can entertain passengers with its built-in multimedia system.

The hotel-car concept also includes late-night snacks and drinks. Luggage can be conveniently stored in compartments under the beds or seats, according to Designboom.

A car without a steering wheel, but with AI

The Swift Pod is no ordinary car—it’s smart. It can suggest scenic stops or recommend restaurants along the way to make the journey even more enjoyable.

“Ultimately, our team is fully aware that the design is very minimalist, but that’s intentional—to ensure a calm, comfortable atmosphere inside the cabin,” said Peter Stulz.

The Xoio founder added that the name Swift Pod—“swift capsule”—emphasizes the idea that passengers can quickly fall asleep inside and just as quickly reach their destination. The whole concept centers on traveling long distances overnight, while sleeping.

“Our design team has always been fascinated by night trains and the idea of waking up at your destination after a good night’s sleep. We wanted a more eco-friendly way to travel, and since night trains proved to be inefficient cost-wise, we came up with this idea to fill the gap in personal and autonomous transportation,” Stulz explained.
