Sliced Charlotte Cake

Start by kneading the dough and adding the crushed yeast. Slice the apples into rounds, leaving the skin on if you prefer, but be sure to remove the seeds. Sprinkle the apple pieces with cinnamon and a spoonful of sugar.

Divide the dough into two parts. Roll out one half and transfer it to a greased baking sheet. Layer the apples evenly on top, then cover with the second layer of dough.

Place the dish in a preheated oven (about 400°F or 200°C) and bake for 40 minutes. Once the pie is ready, take it out of the oven and dust it with powdered sugar mixed with vanilla sugar. Allow it to cool slightly before cutting it into squares and arranging them on a serving plate.

For this recipe, you’ll need: 4 cups of flour, 2 cups of sugar, 2 eggs, 250g of margarine (about 1 cup), 20g of yeast (about 0.7 oz), a packet of vanilla sugar, 1 tablespoon of oil, 2 teaspoons of baking soda, a pinch of salt, 1 kg of Antonovka apples (about 2.2 lbs), 1 tablespoon of sugar, and a pinch of cinnamon.
