Understanding Communication Between the Genders
It’s a shame schools and universities don’t teach us how to communicate with the opposite sex. Sometimes it feels like men and women live on different planets, speaking different languages, and are so fundamentally different that true understanding seems impossible. However, with a little effort, we can find common ground, care for one another, love, and truly understand each other. It all comes down to desire.
After all, you can’t fight human reluctance; that’s where we have to start. But this “want” or “don’t want” also depends on how well we manage our own selfishness. If we only expect everything to be “about us,” we could be waiting a long time. On the other hand, if we focus on “giving” and really live for the desires of others, we often receive the same in return much sooner. Yet, it’s crucial to maintain a sense of balance; we shouldn’t become fixated on others, just as we shouldn’t become overly absorbed in ourselves.
There is no such thing as eternal love, and perhaps we don’t need it. Over time, love should transform into something deeper, more substantial, stronger, and more reliable. But again, it all comes down to desire…
P.S. Once again, I’m watching friends go through a divorce. And there’s nothing to be done—other people’s lives depend entirely on the two involved. Life is so short!
