The Guinness Book of Records organized a meeting between the tallest and shortest dogs in the world.

The Guinness World Records, celebrating its 70th anniversary, hosted a meeting between the tallest and shortest dogs on the planet: a four-year-old tiny Chihuahua named Pearl from Florida, standing at just 3.6 inches, and a seven-year-old giant, a Great Dane named Reginald (Reggie), who measures an impressive 3 feet 3.5 inches.

The introduction took place in Idaho, at Reggie’s home. Despite their significant height difference of 36 inches, the two got along famously. Witnesses of the meeting reported that Reggie was very gentle and careful with his new friend.

Sam Johnson Reiss, Reggie’s owner, noted, “It’s understandable that when the smallest dog in the world is next to the tallest dog in the world, it raises some concerns. But Reginald was very gentle and kind to Pearl.”

Pearl’s owner, Vanessa Semler, added, “I don’t think she has any idea that she’s the smallest dog in the world. When Pearl meets larger dogs, she becomes very friendly and playful.”

As the owners anticipated, the dogs hit it off well, according to the Daily Mail. Ms. Semler mentioned that Reggie tried to be cautious with his new acquaintance, maintaining a bit of distance, which speaks well of him.

Meanwhile, Mr. Reiss recalled that his pet was the smallest in his litter. No one could have imagined he would grow so large and even make it into the Guinness World Records. However, Reggie might seem “small” when compared to the record holder from 2011, a Great Dane named Zeus, who reached a staggering height of 3 feet 11 inches.
