They’ve created a monster: the British have released the fastest electric scooter in the world.

Residents of the United Kingdom view electric scooters as a threat to public safety and have long been calling for their ban. However, the release of the incredibly fast The Turbo is likely to make the situation on the roads even more frustrating.

The developers of this new electric scooter refer to it as a true monster. It can reach a staggering speed of 100 mph (160 km/h).

“When we created The Turbo, we knew we were building a monster,” said Oscar Morgan, CEO of Bo.

Opponents of electric scooters hope that the high price tag will deter most potential buyers from purchasing The Turbo. The base price of the scooter is $29,500 (£21,950).

What do we know about this model?

The company spent 18 months developing The Turbo, which is made from aerospace-grade aluminum. According to Bo, the scooter features an “ultra-modern powertrain,” specifically a dual-motor system with a power output of 24,000 watts.

Meanwhile, the main battery has a capacity of 1800 watt-hours. This is enough to provide a quick charge for 1,500 iPhones simultaneously, as reported by the Daily Mail.

According to the developers, most average electric scooters seen on the roads have a range of about 15–40 miles (25–65 km) on a single charge. In contrast, The Turbo can travel around 150 miles (240 km) before needing a recharge.

The first 20 test runs were conducted at the famous Goodwood track. The scooter, piloted by professional racer Tre White, reached a speed of 84 mph (135 km/h).

By the way, the current speed limit for electric scooters in the UK is 15.5 mph (25 km/h).

However, Bo has decided not to stop there. The company now hopes to surpass the speed of 100 mph (160 km/h) under the supervision of the Guinness World Records.

Harry Wills, the technical director of Bo, stated, “Having successfully completed the testing process on racing tracks here in the UK and ensuring the high level of stability and handling of The Turbo, we are now starting to work on increasing the power and speed of the scooter.”

Deadly Transportation

This news comes shortly after the launch of a campaign to restrict the use of electric scooters and some other vehicles. This initiative was prompted by a series of incidents related to their use that alarmed the public.

Now, citizens can anonymously report instances of dangerous and illegal use of motorcycles, mopeds, e-bikes, electric scooters, and e-scooters to the charity Crimestoppers.

Britons can be congratulated on this opportunity, as these modern vehicles like electric scooters have become a threat to public safety, with riders using them in residential areas, on sidewalks in city centers, and in parks.
