Beautiful things around us can lift our spirits — and they don’t have to be expensive or hard to find. Many lovely items are easy to make by hand. Vibrant oven mitts and pot holders with appliqué look far more appealing than plain rags.
A cute apron is a must-have for every woman. Sew one from an old dress or bathrobe, or piece one together from scraps of two different fabrics. If you have a daughter, try crafting together: cut out funny animal shapes for appliqués and use simple stem stitches to embroider them. Those projects will help your daughter develop her first crafting skills. Include patterns and templates for other household items. To enlarge a design, sketch it on a grid and use graph paper to determine the scale.
