To the delight of beer lovers: a self-cooling beverage can has been created.

James Weiss, a former bartender from Swansea who became an inventor and entrepreneur, has developed a magical aluminum can. He promised to take his innovation to an international level.

For years, James was troubled by the fact that people often had to consume drinks warm, especially in the heat. He couldn’t come to terms with the fact that packaging for them had not evolved even in these times of high technology.

Thus, a man created an aluminum can that cools with the push of a button – without the use of electricity, batteries, or chargers. Moreover, the useful item is fully recyclable after the drink is consumed, just like all other cans.

To the delight of beer lovers: a self-cooling beverage can has been created.

The construction is made up of 98 percent aluminum and 2 percent recycled plastic. Inside the can, there are no harmful substances – only an eco-friendly solution of water and salt.

Now, this patented invention has caught the interest of beverage industry giants. Some of these entrepreneurs had previously attempted to develop something similar, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

What did the inventor report?

In a “secret location” in London, James Weiss demonstrated to journalists Daily Mail one of 10 prototypes of the can.

During this presentation, he said: “My invention gives consumers the ability to decide when and where to cool a can: at the beach, a festival, a picnic with friends, while hiking, fishing, or during a marathon.”

According to a former bartender, “the invention is based on very simple scientific principles.” Although the can appears to be 500 milliliters, it actually holds 350 ml of drinkable liquid. The thing is, the walls and bottom are covered with a narrow cavity that helps protect the beverage from heat.

At the bottom of the can, where the plastic button is located, there is water. When the button is pressed, the water moves upward into the cavity of the walls, where salt crystals are located (which make the can rattle like a maraca).

When water and salt come into contact, an endothermic reaction occurs, causing the walls to cool down in just a few seconds.

According to James Weiss, on a hot summer day, the cooling effect will last about 20-30 minutes, while in cooler conditions, it can last up to 45 minutes.

After use, the can should be sent to the recycling container, just like any other. According to the inventor’s calculations, consumers will only have to pay 10-20 pence more for the convenience of easily cooling their favorite drink compared to a regular can.

Weiss hopes that by 2026, his banks will sell non-alcoholic beverages as well. beer cider, white wine and cocktails. The first step towards this is testing the invention in London this summer.

“I want the bank to be positioned as a British product that will change the world,” Weiss emphasized. After all, “the first bank beer was poured in Wales, so the circle is complete,” he added.
