How to Make Cajun Turkey Burgers with Avocado

Turkey burger
Turkey meat is prized for its hypoallergenic properties, making it suitable for people with food allergies and safe for children’s diets. This meat is rich in B vitamins and also contains potassium, phosphorus, zinc, selenium, and other essential trace elements that support immunity and promote the health of blood vessels, skin, and bones. Turkey meat can lower certain risk factors and is beneficial for the digestive system by stimulating metabolism.

Ingredients (for 4 burgers): ground turkey – 300 g; rolled oats – 45 g (u00bd cup); toasted buns – 4 pieces; large tomato – 220 g (1 piece); avocado – 300 g (1 piece); green onions or shallots – 3 pieces; lettuce leaves – 50 g; lemon juice – 2 tablespoons; grated lemon zest – 2 teaspoons; Cajun spice mix (a popular seasoning that includes paprika, garlic, onion, oregano, thyme, and various peppers) – 2 tablespoons; salt – to taste; Tabasco sauce – for serving.

In a medium bowl, combine the ground turkey, Cajun spice mix, oats, chopped green onions, and lemon zest. Mix well. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty. Place the patties on a plate, cover, and refrigerate for 1 hour.

In a bowl, mix the lemon juice with the chopped tomato and avocado, seasoning to taste with salt and spices.

Grill the patties on an oiled grill pan over medium heat, cooking 5 minutes on each side.

On the bottom halves of the buns, layer the lettuce leaves, then the cooked patties, and top with the seasoned tomato and avocado (this will make the turkey burger juicier). Add sauce and cover with the top halves of the buns before serving.

Life Hack

The calorie count for a medium-sized turkey burger is about 1168 kcal. In a low-calorie version, this can be reduced to 700 kcal by omitting fatty sauces and skin (most of the fat in turkey is found under the skin, so it can be removed if necessary). Add chopped mushrooms or a couple of tablespoons of melted butter to the ground turkey to prevent the lean meat from drying out during cooking.
