Turn a Loaf of Bread into a No-Fuss Savory Pie

Quick loaf bread pie

This recipe is perfect if you don’t want to mess with dough – or you just don’t feel confident making it. It’s quick and delicious, so give it a try!

Start with a loaf of bread: cut off the top crust and scoop out the insides, leaving about 0.4 inches (1 cm) at the bottom. Crumble half of the removed bread and soak it in 1/2 cup heavy cream. Dice 200 grams (about 7 ounces) of chicken or turkey fillet (you can use any meat); season it with salt, pepper, and your favorite spices, and drizzle a little oil over it. Sauté the meat with 100 grams (about 3.5 ounces) of bacon (optional), about 150 grams (about 5 ounces) of mushrooms, and one onion in a skillet. Let the cooked mixture cool, then mix it with the bread that soaked in the cream. Pour the mixture back into the loaf, top it with thinly sliced tomatoes, and spread a little mayonnaise (or any sauce you prefer) on top. Bake the filled loaf in the oven for about 20–25 minutes. Then sprinkle the loaf with cheese and return it to the oven for another 5 minutes at a lower temperature.

This recipe is flexible – use whatever fillings you like. Enjoy your meal!
