Utopia or a beautiful future: a biologist has unveiled the world’s first artificial womb center.

The author of the video is a molecular biologist by profession, a director by passion, and a dreamer by nature. Hashem Al-Ghailli, a Berliner, is also a well-known video blogger, so he knows how to attract social attention with provocative projects.

The concept of Al-Ghaili called EctoLife has already caused a stir in the media and scientific circles. However, dreaming is not harmful. Especially when the planet’s population is recovering quite slowly, childbirth often leads to complications, and many couples are unable to become parents.

The biotechnologist believes that his childbearing farm will be the second step in solving the problem of infertility after IVF (in vitro fertilization).

In his video, Al-Ghailli introduces Earthlings to a new perspective – having offspring from a capsule. His project EctoLife, developed with the help of artificial intelligence offers expectant parents a relatively safe alternative to natural childbirth, eliminating the associated fatal complications.

How a science fiction baby production center works

According to the World Health Organization, around 300,000 women worldwide die each year from complications related to pregnancy. The artificial womb EctoLife is designed to alleviate the suffering of expectant mothers and reduce the likelihood of cesarean sections, Al-Ghailli noted.

EctoLife is a massive sci-fi center with 75 modern laboratories, each housing 400 capsules. They precisely replicate the conditions inside a woman’s body. In a laboratory where no infections can enter, up to 30,000 babies can be born each year.

Each capsule is equipped with sensors that monitor the baby’s heart rate, oxygen saturation levels, temperature, breathing, and blood pressure. The artificial intelligence system detects any potential genetic anomalies, the publication reported. Designboom .

However, as the author of the idea noted, the presence of such anomalies is reduced to zero. Parents will independently “design” a viable and genetically healthy embryo. For this purpose, they will use AI for gene editing, thereby eliminating the influence of so-called “bad” genetics on the future child’s life.

Throughout the entire time the fetus is developing, parents will be able to observe every stage of its growth in real-time. They will record the phases of its development in slow motion and will be able to share the results with friends. Each artificial womb, by the way, is equipped with internal speakers through which the baby in the capsule can listen to music or the voices of its parents.

To bring a child into the world from an artificial womb, it is enough to simply press a button. This click will trigger the release of fluid from the capsule and the actual birth.

According to Hashem Al-Ghaili, EctoLife farms could be in demand in countries with the lowest population growth, such as South Korea, Bulgaria, and Japan.
