For centuries, women have been depicted in paintings with long, silky hair. A team of psychologists from Yonsei University in South Korea has concluded that married women with long, high-quality hair engage in sexual activity more frequently than their short-haired counterparts.
The researchers believe that long hair may enhance men’s perception of their wives’ attractiveness and boost sexual desire. Conversely, the team found no correlation between the length of men’s hair and women’s libido.
How the Study Was Conducted
To investigate whether hair length affects the frequency of sexual encounters, the scientists recruited 204 married couples from South Korea.
Participants were asked about how their partner’s physical attractiveness, including hair quality and length, influenced their sexual desire, as well as their levels of sexual desire and satisfaction, frequency of intimate encounters, and overall relationship satisfaction.
The results revealed a significant correlation between the quality and length of a wife’s hair and the frequency of sexual encounters within the couple, as reported by the Daily Mail.
“Men found women with longer hair more attractive, which heightened sexual attraction. Increased sexual desire was linked to a higher likelihood of more frequent sexual acts,” the researchers noted.
Key Takeaways
Some previous studies have shown that hair is a symbolic expression of femininity. However, there has been little scientific research on how the condition and length of hair affect romantic and intimate relationships.
Based on the findings, the researchers urged women to invest in hair care if they wish to enhance their sex lives.
“Understanding the connection between physical attractiveness, sexual desire, and sexual activity contributes to a fuller understanding of human relationships,” the psychologists remarked.
The study’s results were published in the journal Evolutionary Psychology.
