The architectural firm URB (UAE) has unveiled a groundbreaking project for the Agri Hub, a massive agritourism center designed to achieve zero carbon emissions. The designers aim to astonish visitors in Dubai with a tourist attraction that previously could only be imagined in dreams.
As a city of innovative technologies and structures, Dubai traditionally surprises its guests with experiences that are truly one-of-a-kind. Now, the focus is on transforming the local desert landscape into a vast eco-space dedicated to the development of agritourism.
Agritourism combines agriculture and tourism, representing a promising sector that boosts the agricultural economy, particularly through the influx of tourists. These visitors choose agricultural regions for relaxation, entertainment, education, and the purchase of organic products, simultaneously contributing to their development.
The proposed Agri Hub project envisions the entire facility powered by renewable energy sources. From a bird’s-eye view, the center will resemble a fantastical land from a bright future. The serpentine, monumental structure, surrounded by lush greenery, will house commercial, educational, and entertainment facilities.
The intricately designed building, adorned with elegant geometric patterns, will immerse visitors in an unfamiliar neo-agricultural aesthetic, providing a sense of connection with nature both inside and out. The agricultural lands of the Agri Hub, along with its islands of trees and flowers, will seamlessly blend into Dubai’s vibrant landscape.
Balanced Ecology – The Highest Value
According to the architects, the project aims to establish a global benchmark for rural ecotourism in the region. The new center will offer economic, educational, and social benefits to tourists, farmers, and local communities. It will also provide farmers with additional income, as guests will purchase products directly from their farms. At the educational venues within the Agri Hub, tourists and local residents will learn about innovative methods of growing and producing food.
Farm products will make their way to the kitchens of the numerous restaurants located within the agritourism center. Here, guests will be introduced to local organic cuisine, as reported by Designboom.
The creators of the Agri Hub believe it is logical to establish not only ecotourism, health, entertainment, and trade centers in this area but also to develop an institute of agricultural technologies. This institute will conduct research on industry development and test cutting-edge innovations in the field of the green economy.
It is anticipated that over 10,000 workers will find their dream jobs across various sectors of the world’s largest agritourism center.
The carbon-neutral operations of the Agri Hub will serve as a model for the agricultural industry of the future, thanks to its other environmental features. These include the aforementioned renewable energy sources, water recycling systems, bio-saline agriculture, waste management, and pollution-free transportation.
Baharash Bageryan, CEO of URB, promised that the Agri Hub will provide farmers with spaces to sell their products directly from their farms. Additionally, it will offer visitors new eco-friendly shops, restaurants, and entertainment options. “This ambitious project will not only create a new experience for the rural areas and wildlife of Dubai, but it will also contribute to the health, well-being, and prosperity of local farmers,” added the URB leader.
